GOWRIE - At times, Estherville Lincoln Central's defense was able to contain Southeast Valley's Kyler Fisher.

But the 5-11, 197-pound senior running back broke through three times for big runs and finished with 270 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries to help his team win 28-6 on Friday.

ELC did well in the first half, except for when Fisher busted through for an 86-yard touchdown run. A two-point conversion made the score 8-0 and that was still the score at halftime.

The Midgets had some chances early in the game, forcing a pair of Jaguar turnovers. However, the Midgets were unable to convert either into points.

"We need to finish off our drives and that's what it came down to," said ELC coach Ryan Rezac. "The guys did give their all tonight and played a good four-quarter game."

ELC's highlight for the night came from senior running back Briar Rowley, who needed 80 yards to reach the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. That came within the first couple plays of the third quarter.

However, Southeast Valley's Fisher broke open another big run late in the third quarter, this time from 53 yards out. He added the two-point conversion and the hosts led 16-0.

In the fourth quarter, Southeast Valley gambled on a fourth-and-one and their 35-yard run. It paid off, as Fisher broke through on a 65-yard score. While the two-point conversion failed, the Jaguars led 22-0.

ELC added a score with 51 seconds left with Rowley scoring on an 11-yard run.

Southeast Valley's Kenny Blunk added a 7-yard touchdown run with 26 seconds left in the game.

Unofficially, Rowley had 33 carries for 158 yards while Christian Sheridan carried the ball eight times for 16 yards.

Alec Heifner was 9-of-18 passing for 93 yards while Rowley was 1-of-1 passing for 13 yards.

ELC (2-6 overall, 0-4 in district play) will end the season at home against Clarion-Goldfield/Dows (2-6, 0-4) this Friday. The Cowboys lost 36-0 to Garner-Hayfield/Ventura last Friday.
