Algona swimmers drop double dual

Home meet is today in Algona

CARROLL - The Algona Girls Swim Team traveled to Carroll and dropped a double dual to Perry by a 58-36 score and to Carroll by a 69-25 score.

"Girls swam hard and had eight times that showed improvement over last Thursday meet," said Algona coach Jim fisher.

Top finishes against Perry were Cheyanne Fries in the 50 freestyle in 28.30 and the 200 freestyle relay team of Laura Stowater, Emma Ross, Kaitlyn Pollock and Fries in 2:02.97.

Second place finishes against Perry included the 200 medley relay team of Stowater, Fries, Pollock and Cayla Steinman in 2:21.13; Stowater in the 50 freestyle in 30.22; Pollock in the 100 butterfly in 1:16.70; Stowater in the 100 backstroke in 1:24.52; Ellie Salvatore in the 100 breaststroke in 1:34.86 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Ross, Pollock, Abby Wiita and Fries in 4:40.79.

Second place finishes versus Carroll included 200 medley relay team, Wiita in the 200 freestyle in 2:27.01, Fries in the 50 freestyle, Stowater in the 100 backstroke and the 400 freestyle relay team.

Next up is the home meet on Thursday at the Algona Y, which is Senior Night and Pink Night.

"This is the chance to come out and see the team in action," said coach Fisher.
