G-T breaks ground on $9.7m project

GRAETTINGER - Graettinger-Terril officials held a ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday for the school district's $9.7 million project, The project includes new secure entrances at the schools in Graettinger and Terril.

It will also fund a new addition and gymnasium in Graettinger. Most of the addition will be to the south of the current building. It will include a secure main entrance through the administration offices, as well as new science classroom and laboratory spaces. Also included is anew industrial technology and vocation agriculture classrooms and laboratory spaces.

Besides the new secure main entrance, restrooms in the Terril Building will also be updated.

The project came about after school district residents passed a bond issue in April. Sand Construction Company of Waite Park, Minn. is the general contractor for the project.

The junior high and senior high student senate members at Graettinger-Terril Middle/High School in Graettinger took turns breaking ground on the new addition on Thursday.
