Estherville, Iowa is booming with business and growth that continues to run over at its seams. Projects are on the rise, a vision for the town continues to grow: theatrical plays coming soon, storefront remodels, factories that feed the nation, all in our small town.

The Iowa Lakes Corridor has taken notice of all the growth and recently awarded Lyle Hevern, Chairman Award for Economic Development, for his dedication and service to the Economic Development at the Iowa Lakes Corridor.

Hevern is Executive Director of Estherville Area Growth Partnership and the city of Estherville. Hevern was unaware that he would be receiving any such award and speaks of it very gracefully.

"It was over the noon hour, it was a luncheon," said Hevern. "I started to suspect something was happening when I walked into the room and my wife was there. So, something was going on, but I didn't know what. Well then it turned out to be this."

Each year the Iowa Lakes Corridor takes a moment to celebrate and recognize all the great things happening in the economy and to celebrate the people who help make it possible.

"This is an opportunity to celebrate all of the great stuff that is going on in the economy here in the four-county region," said Kiley Miller, President and CEO of The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation. "We are all so busy that sometimes we don't take a moment, stop and look around and say 'Wow! Look at what everyone is achieving!' We then invite our Chairman to honor someone who has gone above and beyond advanced economic development, and there is nobody that you can say that more for than Lyle Hevern. Lyle's service, dedication and just his relentlessness and relentless work ethic is why he won the award. Here at the Corridor we are just honored to work with Estherville and with Lyle."

Hevern's relentless attitude toward economic growth was evident even while being interviewed for this article. Hevern refused to toot his own horn about his recent award, instead was humble, gracious and instead he began talking about the things that are happening now in Estherville.

"I'd like to see the second-floor buildings that are cool buildings in downtown Estherville remodeled and occupied both with entrepreneurs, working space and living space," said Hevern. "There are a lot of positive things happening in Estherville right now. We can look around and see and witness the additional positive things that are going to happen here in the near future. We're going to see some pretty neat things happening here. The challenge is that we all get on board and support those new businesses that start."

Hevern then pointed out one of the newest businesses on the east edge of town, JS Customs for auto-restoration. Hevern takes pride in every business that occupies Estherville.

Hevern's spirit for economic growth does not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated by many.

"I am not certain that you could find a more devoted public servant than Lyle," said Penny Clayton, City Administrator for the city of Estherville. "He seems to eat, sleep and breathe the economic vitality of Estherville. Lyle has just been really valuable as it relates to our pursuit of economic activity here in town. I am very happy that we added that position and that Lyle assumed that role in a full-time capacity. I think that it is starting to show some results and I am very pleased."

Congratulations to Lyle Hevern on his Chairman's Award for dedication and service to the economic growth and development of Estherville.
