Estherville News

Alan "Al" Peta, age 44, of Terril, passed away surrounded by family and friends on Dec. 18, 2018.

Al was beloved by many for his friendly, caring and fun-loving attitude. He enjoyed joking around, pranking friends and making others feel comfortable and welcome. His laugh was infectious and he laughed often.

To say he was an avid sports fan would be an understatement. He loved football, the Hawkeyes and was frequently spotted in his treasured Cubs cap. He could often be heard bragging about finally seeing them win the World Series.

Never able to sit still for too long, Al and Jodi enjoyed traveling and did so often, most recently to Alaska, Mexico and many ballparks around the country. He loved the outdoors and would spend his spare time with friends and family, manning the grill, boating, fishing and exploring.

Al was a lead at Rosenboom Machine and Tool, Inc. in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife, his daughters Amanda Laird (Jordan) and Alex Oleson, parents Roger and Connie, sister Michele Johnson (Justin), nieces Kylee "Poop Stick" and Heidi "Bullet", father-in-law Roger Conway and many family and friends. He is preceded in death by grandparents Della and Ed Vail, Zelma and John Peta and mother-in-law Patt Conway.

Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Estherville. The family will greet loved ones on Friday, Dec. 21 between 4-7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers the family will be accepting memorials to support Al's favorite causes.
