Estherville Lincoln Central Middle School Principal Dave McCaulley's resignation letter received board approval at Monday's meeting.

McCauley, who has spent the last five years at ELC, said he plans to retire.

In his letter to Superintendent Tara Paul and the ELC Board, McCaulley stated, "So, after great thought and with a lot of mixed emotions, I have decided it is time for me to retire my post as principal of Estherville Lincoln Central Middle School. My retirement will be effective at the end of the present school year with the balance of my leave being used to fulfill my remaining days."

McCaulley has been in education the past 36 years.

"In my 36 years in education, I have never experienced a staff that is as driven, committed, and unstoppable as the one here at ELC Middle School," McCaulley continued in his letter. "It has been an honor to serve in a leadership role at ELC over the past five years. During this time, we have come together to tackle the work of making and creating a place where all students can find their path of opportunity to reach their goals and find success. We have made incredible progress, and I have complete confidence in the staff and the community to stay focused on serving all students for years to come."

McCaulley came to Estherville from Nevada (Iowa) High School, but his career has also included stops at Clear Lake and Iowa Central Community College.
