LAKE MILLS - North Union junior Chloe Lofstrom set a single-game school scoring record while reaching another milestone in the Warriors' 63-46 victory over Lake Mills on Saturday.

Lofstrom scored 36 points as she surpassed 1,000 career points. The 6-foot post player entered the game with 977 career points and scored her 1,000th-point on a free throw in the third quarter. She scored 230 points as a freshman, 417, as a junior and now has 1,013 for her career. The school record of career points was set last year by Samantha Hagedorn, who finished with 1,064 points before taking her talents to Iowa Lakes Community College this year.

In Saturday's game, North Union led most of the way after taking a 20-15 lead in the first quarter and 28-24 at halftime. The Warriors outscored Lake Mills 17-8 in the third quarter to take a 45-32 lead into the final frame.

Lofstrom also had 12 rebounds and three assists in the game. Maddie Rolling had five points, Brooklyn Prochniak and Rory McClellan each had four, Hope Steinberger, Vanessa Von Bank, May Laverty and Sam Nielsen each had three points and Lily Henderson had two points. Steinberger also had six assists and Von Bank had four steals.

North Union (10-6 overall, 9-4 in the Top of Iowa West Conference) hosts Eagle Grove on Tuesday.

On Friday, North Union held a four-point advantage, 32-28, entering the fourth quarter against Bishop Garrigan. However, the Golden Bears began knocking down shots in the fourth period and took an eight-point lead. The Warriors mounted a furious rally in the final minute and got within two, 48-46. However, North Union couldn't foul a Garrigan player fast enough and two free throws by the Bears with a tenth of a second on the clock sealed the 50-46 victory for the visitors.

Chloe Lofstrom led North Union with 13 points, but her opportunities were limited, as Garrigan's zone defense collapsed on her most of the night. Lofstrom was 5-of-7 from the field and had a team-high six rebounds. Brooklyn Prochniak finished with 10 points while Rory McClellan had seven points and five rebounds. Vanessa Von Bank had six points while Hope Steinberger had five points, four assists and three steals. Lily Henderson had three points and Maddie Rolling had two points.
