ELC rallies past Spencer

Midgets out-score Tigers 36-17 in final two quarters

SPENCER - After struggling to score in the first half, the Estherville Lincoln Central girls outscored host Spencer 36-17 in the second half to win 52-39 on Friday.

The Tigers appeared to out-hustle the Midgets in the first 16 minutes. Spencer took a 13-7 lead after one quarter. ELC fought back within three points twice in the second quarter, but the Tigers held their six-point advantage, 22-16, at the break.

Jaydan Nitchals kept ELC in the game, scoring 11 of her team-high 17 points in the first half. She also finished with 11 rebounds.

In the third quarter, 3-pointers by Nitchals, Josie Condon and Kaitlyn Tendal helped ELC take its first lead at 29-28.

Spencer briefly retook the lead, but 3-pointers by Condon and Jadynn Moore helped the Midgets hold a 36-34 lead heading into the final period. ELC then outscored the Tigers 16-6 in the final frame to pull out the win.

Condon finished with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Tendal finished with nine points and five assists. Moore had five points and three steals while Lindsey Jensen and Kendall Evans each had two points and Adrienne Rosfjord had one point. Evans also had three steals.

ELC (10-10 overall, 4-7 in the Lakes Conference) ends the regular season at home against Storm Lake on Tuesday.
