GT/RA teams each lose two games to end week

The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire girls wrapped up the regular season with a pair of losses last week, falling 53-49 to Sioux Central on Friday and 69-34 to Class 1A No. 1 Newell-Fonda on Saturday.

In Friday's game, Sioux Central jumped out to an 18-8 lead in the first quarter with GT/RA battling back to tie the game at 25-25 by halftime. However, the Rebels took a 44-38 lead entering the final period and held on for the win.

Madison Hough led GT/RA with 18 points and five rebounds while Toni Alesch had 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Lauren Josephson had seven points and five rebounds, Kylea Fehr and Kate Sorenson each had four points and Emma Heinrichs and Chloe Bakken each had three points.

GT/RA struggled at the free throw line, as the Titans shot 9-of-19.

On Saturday, Newell-Fonda led from start to finish after taking an 18-7 lead after one quarter and 36-18 by the break. Hough again led GT/RA with 12 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Alesch had 11 points and five rebounds. Fehr and Sorenson each had three points while Josephson and Heinrichs each had two and Mackenzie Hoffman had one.

GT/RA (12-8 overall, 7-4 in the Twin Lakes Conference) travels to Everly for a Class 1A first-round regional game against Clay Central-Everly (6-14) on Thursday. The winner plays Tuesday at George.

In Friday's game, GT/RA trailed 16-14 after one quarter, 26-21 at halftime and 40-30 after three quarters. Tom Geelan led the Titans with 18 points and six assists while Tyson Kruse had 17 points and five rebounds. Koy Bakken had six points, Blake Rosacker had two and Kadin Norris had one.

Stats for Saturday's game were unavailable.

GT/RA (7-11 overall, 4-7 in the Twin Lakes Conference) hosts Clay Central-Everly at Terril today. The Titans are on the road against Harris-Lake Park on Friday.
