ELC finished second overall behind Spencer with 138 points.

"Jacob Jensen had a great night-I think he had three career bests," said Barrett.

Jensen won the 100, 200 and 400-meter races with times of 11.37 seconds, 23.19 seconds and 51.56 seconds, respectively.

"Brian Egeland threw two career bests and certainly strengthened his position in the district," Barrett said. "I'm happy with the way he's throwing, he throws with a lot of confidence.

Egeland finished first in the discus with a toss of 137 feet, 11 inches and second in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 9 inches.

"Taylor Myers had a too workout tonight, running the 1600, the 3200 and the 800," Barrett said. Myers took first in the 3200, second in the 1600 and third in the 800.

"We got some help from some of our younger guys with a second-place finish in the medley relay," Barrett said. "The shuttle hurdle relay ran its fastest time of the year and Nick Leonard and Dale Paulson both ran well in the high hurdles."

The coach also said Riley Theesfeld had a good night, running three 400s-the distance medley, the open 400 and the 4x400-meter relay.

"I thought our kids competed hard. We came up a little short in a couple relays-we just got to get better there," said Barrett.

The coach also thanked the workers for their efforts in a smooth running 98th Running of the Estherville Relays.

"Our staff is extremely efficient," he said.

ELC returns to action Monday at Storm Lake.
