While the south half of the Roosevelt school comes down this week, the Estherville Lincoln Central School District has an offer on the table for the north half the school, which includes the gym and auditorium.

At its regular meeting on Monday, the ELC School Board set a public hearing on Upper Des Moines Opportunities proposal to purchase the school. The hearing will be held at the board's next meeting at 5:10 p.m., Monday, July 15.

UDMO moved its Head Start classes to the north half of Roosevelt about year and half ago and completed several updates prior to moving in.

ELC Superintendent Tara Paul said UDMO's current offer is $315,000, which is $5,000 cash and $310,000 of what has put into the renovations.

Paul and school officials have discussed contingency plans for use of the Roosevelt auditorium after UDMO takes ownership of the building. She said the auditorium does not meet updated fire regulations.

In other business Monday, the school board set a public hearing date for 5:10 p.m., Monday, July 1 for a high school heating, ventilation and air conditioning project. School officials had planned to do the project last year, but bids came in higher than projected. Paul said the school did set $250,000 aside for the project in the current budget, as well as in the 2019-20 budget.
