Funeral services for Wayne M. Haukoos, 90, of Estherville, will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2019, at Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastor Joel Sadler officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery at a later date. He died on Monday, June 24, 2019, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Wayne Melvin Haukoos, the son of Otis and Violet (Huffman) Haukoos, was born March 22, 1929, in Armstrong.

He received his education and graduated from Estherville High School. Wayne served in the Iowa National Guard.

On May 1, 1953, he was united in marriage to Loretta Galvin in Jackson, Minnesota. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Estherville. Wayne worked as a meat inspector for Hills & Tobin Meat Packing and John Morrell & Co. Before being married, he was a member of the Golden Gloves Boxing Club. For hobbies, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, bowling, fast pitch softball, Minnesota Vikings and time spent at the RWC in Estherville. Wayne had a great sense of humor and a smile for all. But most important was time spent with his family and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in many sports and other activities.

He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville.

Left to cherish Wayne's memory are his wife, Loretta of Estherville; his children, Debra Cox of Marshall, Minnesota; Denise (Terry) Johnson of Wallingford; Doreen (Kenny) Spoo of Hartley, Iowa; Darla (Michael) Pytleski of Gruver, Iowa; David (Michelle) Haukoos of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; De Etta (Tim) Koen of Estherville; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

He has been preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Kyle VanCleave and brother, Irvin.
