=Estherville Lincoln Central couldn't come up with the hits in a 7-1 non-conference loss to Emmetsburg on Friday.

Although the Midgets drew nine walks against Emmetsburg starter Mikayla Frerichs, ELC had just two hits against the junior hurler who finished with eight strikeouts.

Emmetsburg scored its first six runs through the first three innings before ELC plated a run in the fourth. The E'Hawks added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.

The Midgets then loaded the bases with no outs as Frerichs walked three straight ELC batters. But a pop up and two strikeouts ended ELC's chances for a rally.

Maggie White took the loss on the mound for ELC.

Friday night was senior night for ELC's two seniors-Lindsey Jensen and Kendall Evans.

ELC (10-20 overall, 4-8 in the Lakes Conference) is at Algona on Tuesday before traveling to Terril on Friday to face Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire.

On Wednesday, Estherville Lincoln Central couldn't hang on to a 4-0 lead against Spirit Lake. The Indians rallied to tie the game in regulation at 4-4, and the teams played two more innings before the visitors left Estherville with a 10-5 victory.

ELC struck first with a run in the first, two in the second and one in the fourth.

Spirit Lake came back with a run in the fifth and three runs in the sixth.

However, the floodgates opened for the Indians, scoring six runs in the top of the ninth inning. ELC could answer with just one on the way to the loss.

In junior varsity play Friday, ELC defeated Emmetsburg 6-2. Adelee Reinhardt was the winning pitcher.
