Funeral services for Arlene Nourse, 84, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m., today, Monday, Oct. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Cole McCormick officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She passed away at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, on Oct. 15, 2019.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., Sunday at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Arlene J (Houge) Nourse, was born at home in Superior, Iowa, on Jan. 11, 1935, to Thorben and Cora (Plautz) Houge.

Arlene attended and graduated from Superior High School. On Dec. 22, 1952, she was united in marriage to Charles Nourse in Petersburg, Minn. The couple made their home in Estherville. She was employed as a secretary at Jensen Furniture Stores in Estherville for 38 years, retiring in 2009. She later worked for Sunrise Housing.

Arlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville, where she was on the church board and other committees. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She enjoyed golfing and reading.

Arlene is survived by her husband Chuck Nourse of Estherville; son Mark (Kathy) Nourse of Ogden, Utah: grandchildren: Sarah (Jason) Nourse Bourgoine, Adam (Stephanie) Nourse, Abby (Travis) Nieman, and Kate Jensen (Maggie Green); and great-grandchildren: Lauren, Jonah, Bailey, Liam, Everly, Addison, and Aidan. She is also survived by her brother Everett (Janet) Houge, sister-in-law Barb Houge, brother-in-law Paul Timmons; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her son Steven Nourse; parents; siblings, Mark Houge, Evie (Merritt) Hoffmeyer, Janice Timmons, Karen (Ronnie) Stoltz, and Thorben "Toby" Houge.
