E’Hawks surpass ELC in fourth quarter

EMMETSBURG - Emmetsburg avenged an early season loss to Estherville Lincoln Central with a 61-52 win over the Midgets on Thursday.

ELC led 18-14 after one quarter and 27-23 at halftime, but the E'Hawks took a one-point lead, 40-39, into the final period and made the plays down the stretch for the victory.

In his second start, sophomore Blake Ingvall led ELC with 20 points while shooting 7-of-12 from the field and 6-of-9 from 3-point range. Octavious Piercy-Maze had 10 points. Jacob Jensen also had 10 points while shooting 4-of-5 from the field, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. Kevin Egeland finished with seven points whie Matt Christensen had four and Kolin Richardson had one.

Christensen had seven rebounds.

ELC shared the ball well with 15 assists led by Piercy-Maze with five and Egeland with four. Egeland also had three steals and Christensen had three blocked shots.

However, Emmetsburg had 22 points from Ben Dunlap, 17 from freshman Sean Europa and 12 from Lex Kassell. Europa didn't miss, as he was 6-of-6 from the field, including 5-of-5 from 3-point range.

The E'Hawks had the advantage at the free throw line, where they were 20-of-26 with Dunlap going 11-of-13. ELC made six free throws in nine trips to the line.

ELC (6-13 overall, 0-9 in the Lakes Conference) hosts Spencer on Tuesday in Estherville.
