Concert, jazz bands resume rehearsals

Rehearsals for the Northwest Iowa Concert and the Northwest Iowa Jazz Band resume today, Feb. 10, at the Estherville Lincoln Central Middle/High School band room. Jazz band rehearsal starts at 6:30 p.m., with the concert band rehearsal starting at 7:30 p.m.

Concerning cancellation of rehearsal due to weather, if Iowa Lakes Community College does not hold classes on rehearsal day, the bands will not rehearse. Other cancellations will be on local radio. The volunteer group consists of musicians from Estherville, the Iowa Great Lakes and surrounding areas.

The spring concert for the bands will be at 7:30 p.m., Monday, April 20.

Under the direction of Rich Nicklay, the concert band is in its 35th year.

Under the direction of Scott Benjamin, the jazz band is in its 34th year.

ELC School Board to meet today

The Estherville Lincoln Central Community Schools Board of Education will meet Monday, Feb. 10 at the high school media center/library beginning at 5:15 p.m. The board will highlight Mayor Joseph May. The board will also do a fiscal year 2019 audit report, discuss an update to the storage building, and review an update of Demoney playground drainage. The board will set public hearing dates for fiscal year 2020-2021 budget and school calendar before adjournment.

Parks & Rec Board to

meet today

The Estherville Parks & Recreation board will meet Monday, Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers of city hall. The board will discuss operating expenses, charges and fees, and concessions for the municipal pool project. The board will also review a foreman's update.

Supervisors to meet Tuesday

The Emmet County board of supervisors will meet Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 9 a.m. in the board room of the Emmet County courthouse. At 9:10, the supervisors will approve claims. At 9:30, the supervisors will take action on the appointment of a weed commissioner. The meeting is accessible. For more information call 712-362-4261.
