Warriors score late to beat Titans

SWEA CITY - After four scoreless innings, Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire may have got on the board first, but Class 2A No. 14 North Union plated five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to win 5-1 on the Warriors' Senior Night.

Both teams had scoring chances throughout those first four innings, but couldn't convert.

GTRA loaded the bases with two outs in the third inning, but the threat ended as Madison Hough lined out to left field.

Emily Meyer earned the pitching victory, giving up one unearned run on five hits with six strikeouts, two walks and one hit-batter.

Hailey Ebel took the loss for the Titans, giving up five runs on nine hits with no strikeouts or walks.

At the plate for North Union, Cassie Beadle finished 2-4 while Sam Nielsen was 2-3. Hope Steinberger each had a hit and an RBI while Olivia Von Bank, Kaylee Tirevold and Libby Stevens each had a hit. Maggie Engelby and Vanessa VonBank each had an RBI.

North Union (10-3 overall) is on the road against Newell-Fonda today. The Warriors travel to Manson-Northwest Webster on Friday.

GT/RA (12-3 overall) was on the road against Manson-Northwest Webster on Wednesday. The Titans host Pocahontas Area Thursday in Terril and East Sac County comes to Terril on Friday.
